Fire of the Wicked

*Much* better than the one I read before this (Cure of Souls, I think). I'm not sure what the difference was, but whatever was bugging me about that other one went away. Rah. I really love this series.

Fire Watch, by Connie Willis
YAY!!! I thought I was all out of unread Connie Willis short stories (or at least collections of such). But I'd never picked up this one. I very much enjoyed it; some of the stories seemed raunchier (more deliberately vulgar?) than her later stuff, which was interesting. My favorite stories from this collection were "Samaritan," "Blued Moon," and "Daisy in the Sun." I think the best story was "All My Darling Daughters," but it is rather painful and not for the easily squicked. (I really love "Fire Watch," too - but I'd read it before, quite recently, so skipped it this time.)
