These were short-subject comics, focused on each of the 7 Endless from the Sandman comics. If you love the Sandman comics, I wouldn't expect you to be disappointed; if you haven't heard of them, I wouldn't start with this one.
I really noticed, due to the close juxtaposition of different artists, how much the artist affects my level of intimacy with the story. If I don't visually understand what's going on, I may appreciate the panels on an aesthetic level, perhaps even more than art for other stories I like better, but they aren't transparent. If the lines are clear and lovely, the story becomes immersive and I only notice the art when it's particularly yummy.
