miscellanea
May. 2nd, 2004 11:11 amMy sister was just here for a few days. Usually I visit her in Vancouver, and it was good to turn the tables. It's nice to have company that appreciates the value of lolling around reading for hours at a time, and I love talking to her. And well, she's my sister, and we're close. I would see her a lot more if she lived nearby.
We went to a Great Big Sea concert last night ... my 4th concert of theirs but the first one I've been to since 1998. Was everything I could have hoped for from a bunch of islanders at 6000 feet. "General Taylor" was sung so beautifully I could've cried. I was delighted to see them pack the Colorado Springs venue to the doors, as I expect it means they will come back. The opening band, Carbon Leaf, was surprisingly good. Particularly "Desperation Song". I was impressed most by their bassist and the dense harmonies. A bit like the Tragically Hip or REM, but the influence shows through more on the weaker songs than the best ones. Concerts always make me feel 19 again.
Now I have the whole rest of the day off, and then my vacation is over. Trying not to spend it in one long nap.
