This is one of those backstory-and-factual-history-related-to-a-much-beloved-series books. So, if you haven't read any of the series, you probably wouldn't care to read this. And if you HAVE read the entire series, you probably don't need to read this, but will anyway. If you've only read the last couple of books in the series, it might be useful.

That said, it's a shining example of its class.

Oh, I loved it but I am a big freak about those books.

Yeah, I really enjoyed it too, but it's just ... no more or less than what I expected. But I loved the pictures and the 'emerson's journal' bit near the beginning and the stuff about proper victorian households.
