The Materialist's Guide to Maribou
Feb. 18th, 2004 06:43 pmYes, so I finally got around to taking all those pictures of my house with stuff in it that I'd mentioned planning on taking months ago.
Those interested in seeing every nook and cranny may check out http://sick.cirilo.net/~sick/jbrhouse/more/ .
First off, the basement:

Here's a picture of my love using the computer, which nicely demonstrates the usual state of our computer desk and the boxes which remain stacked to its right.

And a picture of the very pretty book sets that I like to keep all in one place, one of the 3 bookcases in the computer room. An aside: if you think pictures of bookcases are dumb, you probably won't get much from these pictures.

Here we have the Room of Toys.

Here we have the cat escaping from the Room of Toys before anyone can impugn her dignity.
The dining room, as I think I mentioned in the empty house pictures, opens out onto a backyard with a very big tree in it. Also, the table and chairs are made from old barrels and are very nifty.

This is the bathroom where stuff actually matches. We have one of those now. We MUST be getting old. (It pleases me to have a bathroom that has room in it for a bookcase.)
I'm leaving out the kitchen because there's nothing interesting in there that wasn't in there before.

This is the living room. The thingie on top of the dresser (which we use as a buffet) is an Art Deco plaster statuette of Sisyphus pushing his rock. It occasionally gets somewhat buried in clutter, which I find rather amusing.

We sure have a lot of CDs. Also, we need to put up some of our art. Also, we actually like that the house has so much white space.
The bower. That denim comforter is the most comfortable comforter I've ever slept under.
We keep all the warmest clothes in the coldest room. I'm not sure why I thought that was a good idea.

I have somehow managed to not kill the Christmas tree yet this year. Maybe it'll actually survive 'til it's warm enough to transplant it.

The more I look at that wall, the less I am able to dismiss the idea of building shelves to the ceiling.

The LoveSac(tm) is my new favorite thingie for reading and sleeping on. This one is hyooooooooooooooge. If it were only more suited to two sleepers, I'd have abandoned our bed long ago. So far, though, "warm fuzzy human" wins out over "cocoon-like body-molded squishbed".

Why, yes, looking at pictures of all my lovely books DOES obsess me a bit.
And now, as a dubious reward for having looked at all those, a couple of very rare things: pictures of me that actually allow one to discern my features.

Uh, I'm the one on the left.
This is the "We're barely awake, it's 5:30 am, and my mother-in-law is determined to get some pictures before my sister goes home" look. Thegirl woman on the left is my youngest sister, who came to visit me for Christmas this year. Then me, and then Jay, who never ever looks that serious in real life, and Chumky, who didn't quite manage to escape the dignity impugning that particular morning.
WHEE!!! PICTURES!!!
