David Quammen is my extremely most favorite naturalist, and this book was no disappointment. It focuses on 4 "alpha predators": lion, bear, tiger, and crocodile, and discusses a panoply of theories, literature, and people related to each one. It's not quite as good as Song of the Dodo, but still wonderful. There was a time when I wanted to grow up to be David Quammen. I still haven't completely ruled it out.
