Debris, by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Riley Rossmo
A fun comic about a trash-filled future, with some questionable cultural assumptions. The main character was impressively dangerous and noble.

The Unwritten, vol. 8: Orpheus in the Underworld, by Mike Carey and Peter Gross; vol. 9: The Unwritten Fables, by Mike Carey, Peter Gross, Mark Buckingham, and Bill Willingham; and vol. 10: War Stories
This series! I think this series is my favorite comic book series, except on weeks when Fables is, or Astro City. It isn't just stuffed full of literary allusions, it's really haunted by and dependent on them. And still hangs together as a story of its own. And the art! And and and.

The Wet and The Dry, by Lawrence Osborne
Parts of this travel narrative / alcoholic confessional were splendid and perfect and made me wish I was friends with the author, while other parts pissed me off royally, or were just dull, or offputting... the good parts made the bad parts worth it, in the book at least.

Invincible: The Ultimate Collection, volume 5, volume 6, and volume 7, by Robert Kirkman et al
This comic book series continues its gleeful march through space opera tropes, superhero tropes, and YA novel tropes. I'm still quite fond of it, though the last couple of volumes were not as engrossing as the first five... may need to take a little break.

The Book of Night with Moon, by Diane Duane
Cat wizards in New York City. Took some time to get used to how she sees cats, but it was consistent enough that my disbelief was eventually suspended. And then it was MARVELOUS. Exciting, thoughtful, and it really did make me laugh and make me cry. I've been waiting for AGES for the next one to come in from the library, and I may just give in and buy it instead.

Fables Vol. 20: Camelot, by Bill Willingham et al
Not the Best Fables Ever, but pretty darn close. Rose Red! And Arthurian mythos! Two great tastes that taste great together.

Arrowsmith: So Smart in Their Fine Uniforms, by Kurt Busiek et al
This was odd, but in a good way. A comic about an alternate WW1 with (small) dragons and magic. If that sounds like you would like it, you probably will.

Astro City, vol. 9: Through Open Doors and vol. 10: Victory, by Kurt Busiek et al
Oh man. I love these stories SO much and they come out SO rarely - having two to read in fairly close proximity was mindblowing. Through Open Doors was one of those many-short-stories-mostly-from-the-pov-of-ordinary-citizens-or-small-time-heroes compilations, which are like, my favorite things ever, but Victory was pretty swell too. The overall plot was not mindblowing, in the latter, but there were a few astoundingly wonderful panels. Love love love.
