An odd little fable about Virginia Woolf (canine variant) and her sister. Not as splendid a story as I had imagined it would be, but several of the illustrations were even better than the imaginary version.

Existential autobiography is my favorite kind of theology. This is a careful and heartfelt book, as solidly intelligent as you would expect from a Jesuit press, and I really liked it.

Kind of uneven, as such anthologies usually are. But there were some incredibly good stories in here, including the Karen Healey story I tracked it down for.

Pretty pretty. The artisanal aspect of Jackson's Tolkien movies is my very most favorite part of them, so it's like they made this book for my innermost nerd. So looking forward to the other one of these.

Lackey, at least when I was reading her stuff in the '90's, was pretty variable in quality. I may have to revisit that.

she's still pretty variable in quality. it's just that i've been reading her every year or two (sometimes a binge) since about 1988, and i know which things will COMPLETELY drive me up a wall (and how to avoid them), so she's a very comforting read for me. Good for my inner thirteen-year-old.
