xicanti reminded me of this lovely novel, which won the Governor General's Award when I was a kid. Straightforward time travel / AU Arthurian / malevsfemalemagic fantasy, well-told, gripping. I was more distanced from the story than I remember being as a teen, but I still had trouble putting it down.
