lovely & appalling

I've been a big fan of Purcell's collages and/or photography since I first started reading the natural history books she collaborated on with Stephen Jay Gould. I confess that I didn't love this one quite as much since it didn't have the extremely nifty Stephen Jay Gould aspect, but it was still breathtaking. Her juxtapositions are intriguing, and most amazingly, she manages to make decay and death and decomposition into things of beauty.
