5 Pleasing Things I Hadn't Remembered About 10 Things I Hate About You

1) The soundtrack of the actual movie has about 3X as many songs as the published soundtrack album, and they're mostly just as good.
2) The paintball scene.
3) The sliding-down-a-pole-singing scene.
4) Alison Janney.
5) It takes place in Seattle.

Overall, still a cute movie. I miss watching Julia Stiles in things. I might just cave and rent The Bourne Ultimatum one of these days.

It's weird to rewatch something when you have a very clear memory of sitting in the theater watching it years ago, the mindspace you were in at the time and all that...

I *so* love that movie. :D

(And it mostly was filmed in Tacoma, including that awesome high school that I was so jealous of when I first saw this movie at 16 or 17. Oh yes.)

I actually have it on DVD, although I haven't watched it in a while. I should watch it again...

I confess that I don't distinguish between Seattle and Tacoma very clearly. Or Seattle and any of the places-that-are-really-near-Seattle:).

It cracked me up when there was an exchange between Patrick and Cat that went something like:
"I want to show you places you've never been before ..."
"What, like the 7-11 on Broadway?"

I love that movie. And the soundtrack. I think when I first saw it I managed to have crushes on all 4 of the stars at the same time - Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Larisa Oleynik, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

What was especially strange for me was visiting/moving to Seattle and actually seeing all of the landmarks from the movie. I nearly blew a gasket when some friends took me to see the Fremont Troll, and Gasworks Park was nearly as surreal. Like seeing the movie come to life in front of my eyes, almost.

What was weird for me watching it *this* time, having spent a lot more time in Seattle than I had the first time, was the 'hey! i know that thing!' I honestly hadn't remembered/noticed where it took place the first time I watched it.

Hee, I didn't remember that Allison Janey was in it. Though that isn't as weird as realizing she was the creepy mom in American Beauty.

Heh. I had forgotten the latter as well. I think I just really didn't notice her as Alison Janney, and not the characters she was playing, until I started watching West Wing.
