The Protector's War, by S.M. Stirling
It's been about a month since I read this, so I don't remember all the details. I remember there were a few bits that were clunky and annoying, but not what they were; I remember there were other bits that were just great, but I don't remember precisely what they were either. Overall, I was quite pleased by this book and am looking forward to the trilogy's conclusion.

Chicken Soup for the Canadian Soul, by Jack Canfield et al
Due to hormones and it being Canada Day, I was feeling sappy and vaguely patriotic. This fit the bill perfectly. I tell myself it is a cut above the rest of the Chicken Soup books, but I realize I am biased.

Generation Loss, by Elizabeth Hand
I can't say I loved this as much as Mortal Love, but at the same time I thought it was of equal quality, and I still enjoyed it immensely. She's really brilliant and I will continue to get excited every time I hear that there's a new Hand book coming out.
