Y The Last Man: One Small Step, by Brian K Vaughan et al
Still impressed with these. Loved the Russian chick.

White Night, by Jim Butcher
I liked this a lot, I thought it was more interesting than the one before it plotwise and I also really enjoyed seeing the Murphy-Harry dynamic developing. The apprentice subplot kinda felt tagged on at times, but at other times it seemed well integrated.

The Bermudez Triangle, by Maureen Johnson
See previous post re: soothing effect of YA novels on anxious maribous. But also, making a big stink about banning something? Good way to get me to read it. I really liked this one and having read it, I'm only left contemplating the thought process that takes this off the shelf just because, you know, GIRLS KISSING. *rolls eyes* I mean, seriously, I'm sure the mid high school in question had plenty of racier stuff, say, um, Song of Songs?

An Abundance of Katherines, by John Green
This was a much cheerier book than Looking for Alaska and just as excellent. Loved the narrative voice especially.

Cursor's Fury, by Jim Butcher
Satisfying end to the arc while still leaving room open for the next arc. Still loving how Tavi gets so much stuff done *without* magical aid. And the trotting out of various Roman history bits intrigued me.

The Reluctant Mr. Darwin, by David Quammen
David Quammen is one of my favorite writers in the entire world. And this short biography of Darwin was excellent, absolutely up to his high standard.

I Was Born on a Blue Day, by Daniel Tammet
Absolutely worth reading, but I was expecting to love this as much as Animals in Translation, by Grandin, or Songs of the Gorilla Nation, by Prince-Hughes, and it just didn't quite reach that level. There were tedious parts. But the good parts were very good indeed.

Fire Rose, by Mercedes Lackey
Someone on lj actually pointed me to this, since I enjoyed the other Elemental Master fairy tale retellings so much, and I'm glad they did. Very satisfying historical fantasy romance fluff, happy maribou.

My Faith So Far, by Patton Dodd
Remarkable for its clarity and honesty. Plus the writing is excellent - it has the feel I often get from poets' prose, though I don't have any particular evidence that Dodd is a poet.
