Overclocked, by Cory Doctorow
I really like this guy's fiction. None of these stories bowled me over the way Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town does; still, no complaints, and I even enjoyed rereading the stories I'd already read fairly recently.

Y The Last Man: Cycles, by Brian Vaughan et al
This series continues to intrigue me, will be trying the next one in short order.

To the Nines, by Janet Evanovich
Funny, fluffy, still not tired of her.

Hunter of the Light, by Risa Aratyr
I was expecting a mediocre Celtic fantasy and instead I got a quite good Celtic fantasy - yay! Reminds me a bit of Hounds of the Morrigan even though the intended audience or imaginary reader or whomever is quite different.

Chronicles of Chrestomanci Vols 1 and 2: Charmed Life, The Lives of Christopher Chant; The Witches of Caprona, Witch Week, by Diana Wynne Jones
What fun these were! I absolutely loved them which means DWJ is now 5/5 with me. Must read more of her books.

Raphael, by R. A. MacAvoy
This is the sort of thing that I wouldn't like all that much if someone other than R. A. MacAvoy had written it (shades of Marion Zimmer Bradley in her Lysande mode, of which I was never all that fond). But because R. A. MacAvoy has such a wonderful voice, and because of all the odd little bits that I won't spoil for you, I liked it quite a lot, instead. Hurrah!

I think my favorites, along with Dogsbody, are A Tale of Time City and Homeward Bounders.

Weird. I actively disliked Dogsbody. But I *loved* Dark Lord Of Dernhelm, and Howl's Moving Castle. Those are still my two favorites of maybe a dozen or so I've read.

I'd love to borrow the Doctorow book if it doesn't already have another home.

I read through Doctorow's Someone and Down & Out within a few nights, and found both lacking. It seemed like he a bunch of "wouldn't this be cool?" ideas, then hacked out a half-assed plot around them. It felt like there wasn't much to them except for the post-singularity wanking (specifically for Down & Out).

Which isn't to say that I didn't like them. But not enough to be interested in Overclocked.

That being said, I hear a lot of good things about Y:TLM, and I think it's the next series I'm going to get into.

I find your ideas intriguing and am considering subscribing to your newsletter.

I don't think he's a dope so much as an naive idealist. That's ok, there needs to be counterweight to soul-crushing realists like myself.

Also, I like BoingBoing and read it regularly. I find it comforting, after being blasted by the mega-depressing mainstream news media.

Eastern Standard Tribe (http://www.craphound.com/est/download.php) is my favorite Doctorow story.
