Pashazade, by Jon Courtenay Grimwood
Rompy noir alternate future set in a fictional Turkish city. Very much enjoyed this. Liked the characters. The first couple of chapters were confusing but it settled down after that. Will be finding sequels.

The Contract with God Trilogy, by Will Eisner
A Contract with God and A Life Force were brilliant. I didn't really care for Dropsie Avenue though, I thought it tried to do too much at once.

The Life of Riley, by Alexander Irvine
This is another case of trying to do too much at once. Very interesting book, too much left unexplored, characters not described in enough depth (it felt like the depth was there, just that the reader wasn't given access to it.). His earlier novel, A Scattering of Jades, was absolutely amazing, so I'll be giving him another try or two before I give up on his stuff.

Callgirl, by Jeanette Angell
More fodder for my interest in the experience of sex workers. This book was very well-written and flew right along. The author has a Ph. D. in anthropology and it shows. It's not written to titillate either - or if it is, I didn't notice because I was too busy being fascinated.
