Like the other two books I've read in the Modern Library Chronicles series, this was both usefully concise and frustratingly brief. Go fig. I enjoyed it, and it did a good job of giving me a 'frame' to put more specific things I've read into order. It was a bit dense, though not terribly so - what I missed most is that Ms. Armstrong usually does a better job of presenting a few sides to things and winning you over properly to her view - this seemed more absolutist in some ways, probably due to length constraints.
