Okay, this Merry Gentry series by Hamilton does not even pretend to be other than trash, but as it is my Platonic trash, valuing the qualities of loyalty, courage, and strong affection (usually leading to hot sex), I really don't mind. It's also mostly intelligently written, although it seems rushed due to a fairly high level of odd grammatical errors (extra commas, mismatched singular/plural, etc.) Of course, my 'fairly high level of odd grammatical errors' = = "I noticed these things more than twice in a several hundred page book."

The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde is the 3rd in the Thursday Next series and I can't possibly summarize it without a huge amount of reference to the other two. But it was even more delightful than they were. So go read the first one, The Eyre Affair, already!
