Labyrinth of Stars, by Marjorie M. Liu
Still weirdly poetic for otherwise fairly straightforward urban fantasy. It works, though, especially when juxtaposed with the dark humor generated by Maxine's boys.

Storm Front and Fool Moon, by Jim Butcher, read by James Marsters (audiobook, reread)
Marsters is very close to the perfect reader for these. I didn't really get into the series until the 3rd or 4th book, so these first two were quite improved by the reading.

The Dark Portal, The Crystal Prison, and The Final Reckoning, by Robin Jarvis
Odd and occasionally clunky, but really lovely and moving kids' stories about mice and bravery and hope. The third one levels up in terms of scope-of-evil-and-scariness, which didn't bother me as an adult reader, but might be kind of overwhelming for a kid.

A User's Guide to Neglectful Parenting, by Guy Delisle
This was extremely funny without being mean. And remarkably hard to put down for a collection of short strips.

When the Saints Go Marching In, by Anthony Bidulka
Thrillers are less my thing than mysteries, so this was less my thing than Bidulka's other series.... but I still very much enjoyed it. I like how he tells stories.

The Partner Track, by Helen Wan
Funny, engaging, and from what I can tell based on stories I've heard from female lawyers, largely accurate. I thought I would like this and I ended up loving it.

Murder by the Slice, by Rob Cline
I liked this! A bit too many seams showing but still, it was funny and the protagonist and plot were both engaging. Looking forwrad to the sequel.

The Long Way Home, by Louise Penny
I loved this book and it made me cry a lot.

The Other Normals, by Ned Vizzini (sort of a reread)
I read most of this during grad school and then something happened - I think there was a school deadline of some sort - and I had to give it back to the library unfinished. It's been so long I started over. It was really fun, and if I'd come across it at the age of fourteen I would've loved it obsessively.

You are clearly much more dedicated to your schooling than I. A book that was even slightly engaging would end up trumping a homework deadline. (Which is a failing of mine.)

Yay graduation!
and you hone in unerringly on my problem with deadlines.
