aw man

This story isn't happy, but it has a lot of grace in it anyway. Story of a Vietnam vet who came home to Kentucky, made himself a life, and then broke down from the PTSD after the Iraq war started. Gwenda Bond called it haunting and I think it will be one of those stories that haunts me.

slightly edgier fluff

The Good Fairies of New York, by Martin Millar
Delightful novel about a bunch of fairies that end up in New York more or less by accident, and what they do there, and some odd but endearing humans they get to know. Very cute with a punk-loving edge to it; it was easy to just fall into the story without argument.

Book Crush, by Nancy Pearl
A book full of recommendations for kids' books. I really like it when I really like what a person has to say about books I love - it gives me confidence in their suggestions for books I've never heard anything about.
