Anna Sledding

This is one of those books that I always have my defensive "cheese factor" shield up while starting, but I keep rereading it anyway. And I always enjoy it. I think this is like my fourth time through or something.

The Sledding Hill, by Chris Crutcher
This is sort of an odd little book, and it only gets odder when the author inserts himself as a character. If it was anyone other than Crutcher, I wouldn't have given it a shot. But Mr. Crutcher, man, he's been one of my people since I first read Chinese Handcuffs in the 9th or 10th grade, and I'll read anything he writes and has them put covers on. Anyway, he made it work and I liked it a lot. But I wouldn't start with this one, I don't think. Start with Whale Talk. See how that suits you.
