(An aside: I don't think I've ever been madder at the way people's brains work then when I found out that not only did a professor assume that someone I knew, someone who was one of the conventionally smartest people I knew (which is saying rather a lot), couldn't possibly be writing her own papers because he wasn't smart enough to understand what she said in conversation, even though plenty of the rest of us could make her out just fine, but that she wasn't that surprised by it. That it had happened to her several times before and she just sort of had to deal with it every so often. On top of all the other crap she had to deal with. URGH.)
