limited teleportation
Mar. 25th, 2003 10:34 pmSo last night, I came up with a conundrum for myself: What if I could have that teleporter I've so often whined about wanting, but it could only be set to *one* place? (ie, I carried one end with me, and the other end could only be one particular spot) Where would it go?
After a great deal of thought - there is a field, next to a warm sandy South Shore beach where I spent a good deal of my childhood, whose pull on me exceeds more pragmatic considerations (like, it would be very nice to have it be somewhere continent-central, or in a country I'm never going to muster up the financial balls to visit alone). That's my homing spot, I guess, or at least the nearest thing to one that I trust to be there reliably for the next 20 or so years. (My real homing spot is up the road, but strangers live there and who knows if they might build some large object in the way or something.)
So I'm wondering now where all of your homing spots are. If you had a 1-destination (and return) teleporter, good-as-infinite number of trips - where would it lead?
