Having unexpectedly acquired 200 bucks, I pounced on Jay and set out to spend a good amount of it. Mostly on CD's.

Stuff bought that wasn't music:
Heroes IV expansion
Some book Jay's been ogling for weeks

CDs bought on purpose:
Evolve, Ani Difranco
Morphine: Best Of and B-Sides
End of the Summer, Dar Williams
Dutty Rock, Sean Paul
Flesh and Blood, Roxy Music

CDs miraculously found on the 1.99/3 for five bucks rack:
Monster, REM
Spirit Touches Ground, Josh Clayton-Felt (finally, I can quit having the argument with myself about whether Ari gets my copy)
Tapping the Wheel, Jane Kelly Williams (it's nice when you've been looking for something for SEVEN YEARS and it finally deigns to show up)

CDs self-indulgently bought from said rack without any idea if they're good:
Stuck on the Way Back, David Jacobs-Strain
Brass: 3 Centuries of Golden Sounds
Falling Into Place, Mike Viola and the Candy Butchers
Devotion: Spiritual Music of the Indian Subcontinent
Emigrante, Orishas

Free shwag pressed on me by the chick at the record store on Platte:
single of Don't Wanna Try, by some pouty dude named Frankie J.
2 songs by a band named OK Go
2 songs by a band named Gob, sample of an album called Foot and Mouth Disease
Suspicious Minds single, Pete Yorn
Hell-Car comic book and compilation CD for May/June 2003

YAY!!!!!!! STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me know what you think of David Jacobs-Strain. I saw him in concert in Berkeley (opening for Susan Werner) and thought he was great. Of course, part of the appeal was hearing a clean-cut 19-year-old white boy from Stanford sing the blues like that.
